Thank you Shirley for your comment. I am not saying in this article that healings still do not occur but the days of just having a shadow passed over someone would heal them. Who do you know that can heal everyone in every instance like the apostles could? If so, they should empty the hospitals or children’s cancer wards. That is my point. God can heal anyone He wants and He can use anyone He wants but He never promises to heal everyone at every time, everywhere. God alone heals. It is not the person who heals but God who enables those to pray for or lay on hands for SOME to be healed but certainly not all. I am not limiting God or putting Him in a box. If you know someone who has the gift of healing, then get a camera, head to the hospitals and children’s cancer wards and empty them…and then I will believe. God does still heal yes, but not everyone. That was the same then, and yesterday, remember Paul prayed three times and was never healed.

I believe being endued with a supernatural power to preach the gospel of the kingdom. I do not believe as many people in the “charismatic movement” teach, that “speaking with tongues” is the evidence that you are baptized in the Spirit. For instance the young lady who shared the gospel with me to be saved did not “speak with tongues” but there was a power being manifested through her that kept me from walking away from her, because I did not want to listen to what she was saying. But I could not escape her, I was set down in an empty classroom to hear what she had to say in college.
The older I get the less I care about what others think about me and about what I look like. We are all made in the image of God. Not that we have a body like God because God is Spirit but we have certain attributes of God and they are not about what we look like but about what we think about. God has declared that He made us most wonderfully (Psalm 139:14) and besides, “Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised” (Prov 31:30). It is true that “bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come” (1 Tim 4:8).
I agree with you. When all is said and done, The most important thing is people knowledge of who Jesus is and what He has done for mankind. I have experienced the reality of this salvation when I came into a knowledge of His salvation while planning to commit suicide. The Bible is more than just ink written on pages. I am not just waiting to just die and go to heaven. I have seen them reality of it. I know we are to live by faith no by sight. Jesus said “Joh 17:3 “And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” The only way we can experience eternal life in this way is by the teaching, and leading and guiding of the Holy Spirit who has been left for us to keep us walking into a greater knowledge of God and His Son Jesus. This is my hearts desire fo myself and every other Christiann. Bible Scripture Images
Thank you! I took both tests and found that Faith was very strong on both. I also had a strong aptitude for Mercy on both. Is it possible through study, prayer and training to strengthen a particular gift? Or does the Spirit fill your cup up only so much? There is an area in which I feel I have been receiving a calling and yet I didn’t score high in that category. I want to follow God’s Will and do what He wants me to do. I am earnestly seeking.
The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants the things that must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, who bore witness to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw. Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near. John to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits who are before his throne, and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. Hi Jerry, Thank you for your great response. I have no doubt that the Spirit moves you in your prayer to speak in tongues. Paul said he spoke in tongues more than all of them. I just don’t happen to have that gift. I also don’t think that I have a gift of miracles either. I have some other gifts that are very strong, however, and I am prayerfully seeking His will. That is not to say that at some point God might bestow a gift of tongues upon me if it was His will and was for His glory. I read Pastor Jack’s response as well and will restate that not all people have all gifts. Paul was very clear about that point. A day may come when God needs me to speak to someone whose language I don’t know, I have no doubt that He would use me as He needed me and I would speak in tongues, as I am His willing vessel.
I kept up the charade until one day we arrived at someone’s home for a prayer meeting. A place I’d never been. As we walked into the front door, we were met with loud praying by the large group that was in the front room — they were all chanting and uttering what seemed to be other languages or random syllables. The Holy Spirit in me resisted and wanted me out of there. It was as though a huge red flag was being waved and I asked my friend if we could leave. We walked right back out the door.
I have shared the word with many Brothers concerning their marriages and God has done wonderful things for them in their marriages. For example, there was one Brother who was calling me almost daily practically crying about what he was going through with his wife. One time he and his wife had come over my house to have dinner with my wife and me. During our time at the table I shared with him what the Spirit had spoken to me before I was married. This turn on a light for this Brother and he went back home and started to attack his wife with this kind of love. Within a month and a half his wife changed from being a roaring lion to becoming a gentle lamb. Months later while speaking with his wife, she told my wife that she could not resist the love of God she was getting from her husband and she just had to submit to it.
Mr 16:17 “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; I do not believe He was speaking of the apostles only. I have meant some Brothers in Christ who did not want to have anything to do with “speaking with new tongues”. But they told when they were in an intense time of prayer they started to pray in tongues. But the greatest and most valuable thing is that all things be done in the love of God as described in 1Cor. 13. I myself pray with tongues and have seen God use it in miraculous ways, but it is the least of all the gifts. I have had experience casting demons out of people. My younger, who I am 11 years older, received Christ after asking me “Roger, how do you know the Bible is true?”, when she was 15 years old. I told her that I know that it is true because I have experienced the truth of it in tangible ways. Then a week later she became very sick and could not get out of bed. Then one day that week while I was sitting in the living, the Holy Spirit spoke to me and told me “go show your sister the truth of the Bible. Then He gave me the verses from Mark 16 to share with her. I went to her bedroom and reminded her of what she had asked me the previous week. Then I read the verses from Mark 16 to her and asked her if she wanted to experience the truth of this verse. Then she said “yes, I guess so”. I prayed for her and she leaped out of bed screaming “I’m healed!” She later became a Christian when the Holy Spirit had revealed to me the exact identity of a young man she was involved with and she was show that she can’t hide anything from God.
1 Now about the gifts of the Spirit, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed. 2 You know that when you were pagans, somehow or other you were influenced and led astray to mute idols. 3 Therefore I want you to know that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit. 4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. 5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6 There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. 7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8 To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines. And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation, and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on the earth.” Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice, “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!” ... So, who are the best gospel singers? Any list of gospel artists has to include male gospel singers like Kirk Franklin, Marvin Sapp, BeBe Winans, and Fred Hammond, as well as female Christian singers like CeCe Winans, Yalonda Adams and Shirley Caesar. These gospel singers are considered some of the best in the genre and it's with good reason that they're at or near the top of this poll. The best gospel artists are well represented on this list and with good reason. When you think of Christian singers and gospel artists, you should be able to use this list as a great point of reference.
While many white musicians gravitated toward country, folk, and old-timey music to express their spirituality outside of traditional Christian hymns, Black Gospel music drew heavily upon the traditional spirituals that had been passed down from the days of slavery, picking up its more driving rhythmic emphasis from blues and early jazz. Composer and singer Thomas A. Dorsey crystallized the style in 1932 with his epochal "Take My Hand, Precious Lord," and went on to compose a great many songs that later became standards. When performed in the churches, the music was traditionally sung by a choir, with individual soloists sometimes taking the spotlight; this often happened in a form known as "call and response," in which either the choir or the soloist would repeat and/or answer the lyric which had just been sung by the other, with the soloist improvising embellishments of the melody for greater emphasis. As the music developed, these soloists became more and more virtuosic, performing with wild emotion (and, in the South, physicality) in order to properly express the spiritual ecstasy the music was meant to evoke. The music was quite egalitarian in terms of gender, as both male and female performers -- Brother Joe May, Rev. James Cleveland, Mahalia Jackson, the Clara Ward Singers, etc. -- gained wide renown among both black and white audiences. The small-group format was also prevalent, with major figures including the Five Blind Boys of Mississippi, the Soul Stirrers, the Swan Silvertones, and the Dixie Hummingbirds; in general, these groups placed a greater premium on smooth vocal harmonies, although some performances could approach the raucous energy (if not quite the huge sound) of a choir-with-soloist group. As the years progressed, black gospel and black popular music influenced and borrowed from one another, reflecting the gradual change of emphasis toward R&B; black gospel also had an enormous impact on the development of soul music, which directed gospel's spiritual intensity into more secular concerns, and included a great many performers whose musical skills were developed in the church. As a recognizable style unto itself, black gospel music largely ceased to develop around the 1970s; progressing racial attitudes had helped black popular music reach wider audiences (and become more lucrative) than ever before, and tastes had turned towards the earthy hedonism of funk and the highly arranged, sophisticated Philly soul sound. The former wasn't quite appropriate for worship, and it wasn't all that practical to duplicate the latter in church services. However, the traditional black gospel sound survived intact and was eventually augmented by contemporary gospel (an '80s/'90s variation strongly influenced by latter-day urban R&B); plus, singers like Whitney Houston continued to develop within its ranks.
A few months ago I was questioning my love for God during a time of prayer Then the Holy Spirit told me that I do love God. He told me that the love of God shed abroad in my in is a love from God and a love for God. He told me to keep that love alive and active what I had to do was declare that love every day all during the day. Then He told me to go to Proverbs 18:19-20 showing that I can awaken that love by speaking life to it. He went on to tell me even if I don’t feel like I love God, just to declare it anyway and my love for Him will remain alive in me. I have read Romans chapter 5 countless times in my 30 years as a Christian, but I could not have the understanding of this verse outside of the teaching of the Holy Spirit Biblical Verses Image
See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.

Hope everything else is well. I spent last night in the ER. After a month of wheezing nightly and no voice, I finally got voice back yesturday, still wheezy but not as bad. I was so excited. Then about 3/4 thru my shift we lost all our staffing and I spent 1 1/2 hrs running my tail off…I was running 3 self check, a reg. register, had a constant code 3, and customers screaming at me to move faster while demanding managers who were not available. When it ended my voice was gone, I was gasping for air, coughing, and wheezing very loud. I then hear a man asking me how long I have been like this. I tell him I have just been diagnosed with what they believe to be adult onset asthma and have been having issues with breathing nightly and no voice for a month. He informs me he has asthma and he can hear me standing acrossed the room. That my eyes are buldging, skin color bad, and showing the sign of not getting enough air. Ask about my inhaler which I took two hrs before and had not helped at all. Says the voice is due to airway obstruction and by the way he is an er nurse one step from his PA license. He tells me to get to er and tell them I am acute and past stage inhaler will work. I need nebulizer treatment and not to take no for an answer. I tell him I can’t afford it and he responds…can you afford a 25,000 bill if you survive when you black out and if you don’t kill yourself or somebody else cause you do it while driving? Then tells me that it is not understood that putting in an airway on asthmatics who have closed up is not easy and not always possible. So I finally gave in when he threatend to return in a few days and pitch a scene if I tell him I have not been to er. Been asking God why I am not better so how do I argue when apparently God sent free medical advice to me at work while I was having a bad attack.
For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to exercise them accordingly: if prophecy, according to the proportion of his faith;read more.
Glad to be of any help Pastor. I have an old computer too and was told it was unfixable two yrs ago. God blessed me with a coworker who was former MI intelligence. He took my computer home, used his to boot it up since we were unable to even start it. I had gotten a bug that my antivirus missed and it attacked my windows start up program. He rewrote my program which is now a lost art amoung most computer techs who rely on programs to diagnoise and fix issues. Ask around and maybe you will find an old programer who knows dos. My computer had to have some memory added as its about ten yrs old, runs a little slow but form basic use, its fine. Bible Scripture Images
Jesus knew the heart and since He is God, He knows the thoughts and motives of every human heart for He is also the Creator. God looked at the religious leaders and knew that they were hypocrites because they taught one thing but did another as Jesus said “on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness” (Matt 23:28). They liked to be seen and wanted others to think highly of them but Jesus knew that inwardly they were as dead as could be and were full of all sorts of evil and uncleanliness. It is never what others think about us that’s important; it is only what God knows about us that counts. We might be able to fool others but we can never fool God because “Lord, you know everyone’s heart” (Acts 1:24) “for the LORD is a God who knows, and by him deeds are weighed” (1 Sam 2:3). Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord. There are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, and to another the effecting of miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another the distinguishing of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills.
The book of Acts show many examples of new Christians receiving the Spirit and speaking in tongues, but it also speaks of people believing the gospel without this experience. I don’t believe that one who does not “speak in tongues” is not indwelt by the Holy Spirit which we all receive when we are born again. I also don’t believe the tongues described in Acts chapter 2 and the tongues spoken of in 1st Cor. 12-14. You say that Paul was reproving the Corinthian church for using tongues in a pagan way. The scriptures do not say this. I believe Paul was telling them this and all other gifts were to be used for the edifying of the church and if others could not understand what was being said it would not edify them. Or if an unbeliever would come into a meeting with several people speaking in tongues they would think the church was a bunch of lunatics. Paul says that whoever speaks in an unknown tongue should pray for the interpretation of it so the church could be edified. Tongues described in 1stCor. Is a gift where believer can pray to God “spirit to Spirit” 1Cor. 14:14-15. I do not believe these tongues were meant to be understood by the human mind. Bible Scripture Images
The next gift of the Spirit Paul mentions is the gift of faith (v 9). Those with this gift are truly amazing in how they see things. They tend to exude confidence in all situations. For example, our church deacon has said about our church growth “when” it grows we will need more Sunday school books, while others say “if” we grow we will need additional books. I met an evangelist once that spoke about things as if they already had existed or had come to pass. He spoke about finances that God would provide while simultaneously have nothing to show for it in the church’s bank account. He would always later prove to be right. This is a person more like God. He sees things that aren’t as if they already are! Bible Scripture Images
Thank you my friend. this is not normal and you won’t find such a thing in the Bible and there is no gift of what your friend describes. Let me ask, has your friend ever repented and trusted in Christ? Are they in a Bible-believing church? Have they talked with their pastor, or do they even have one? What is their prayer life like? Does your friend spend much time in the Bible? If they are not saved, they may be under demonic influence. There is no gift like what you mentioned anywhere in the Bible, so I fear it could be an evil spirit inhabiting her. Biblical Verses Image

Anthony…my friend, you are giving me more credit than I deserve. Yes, it would be like you being there with us in church. I like that thought. I record almost every Sunday when our tech guy is there anyway and he and his wife are only there about 2 out of every 4 to 5 Sundays about which I am concerned for their trying to follow Christ seriously and taking Matt 6:33 as face value as Jesus said. By the way, the enemy loves our terror but God is the God of all comfort but even longtime Christians battle this fear and doubt and times of lack of faith so you are not alone my brother. Why I pop into your head…that’s a scary thought…I will pray that doesn’t happen too often. Just kidding…don’t know why it happens. The Holy Spirit maybe? Not sure. Take care Anthony my friend. A talent is something that you are instinctually born with that gives you unique skills and abilities. Talent is set apart from knowledge in that it is not a learned behavior, although it can be strengthened and practiced. The Bible tells us that we are all born with distinct talents and gifts that set us apart from each other. When you discover the talents that God has given you and you use them to glorify Him, you will experience a full life! Our loving Lord wants us to feel whole and complete, and it is through talents that we can find our unique calling in life! I think that you are on the right track with the topic of speaking in tongues. Those who babble like your friends are not speaking in tongues. If they were then there were be people listening who spoke a different language than theirs and those people would understand them. That it what took place on Pentecost. The reason for that gift was that there were people assembled from many areas and different languages. To be honest I have never met nor heard of anyone speaking in tongues. It is not needed in the current world in most situations. There may be a time in the future when it will again be a more common gift. Today we have many people who can translate English and many who already speak or understand English around the world. Just my 2 cents worth. Take care. Bible Verse Wall Art
