Well said Roger. I do agree that seminary alone is not enough and too many have attended liberal seminaries. I attended Moody for a master’s and it is the most solid, theologically sound that I know of anywhere. Yes, many who came from seminary’s have strange teachings but so do those with no seminary degrees. I still believe seminary is crucial because there are lessons on interpreting scripture, hermeneutics, exegesis, and so on that help us put into the cultural context and look at the genre and to see whether Scriptures apply to us today. For example, all Scripture is written to us but not all Scripture is written for us. That is, many verses are prescriptive and some are descriptive.
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the people of old received their commendation. By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible. By faith Abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain, through which he was commended as righteous, God commending him by accepting his gifts. And through his faith, though he died, he still speaks. By faith Enoch was taken up so that he should not see death, and he was not found, because God had taken him. Now before he was taken he was commended as having pleased God. ... Biblical Verses Image

Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

Yesterday, the question came up again for me. Even though I had sought answers and felt that I had found them, I asked God once more to show me the truth. I opened my Bible and went where God led me. 1 Corinthians 12 is Paul talking about all the spiritual gifts. He goes into great detail and spends a little extra time talking about the gift of tongues. He emphasizes that all are an important part of the Body of Christ but goes on to say that not all Spirit-filled Christians possess ALL the gifts but the Spirit apportions them as is the Will of God. Now, in 1 Corinthians 14 Paul goes into more detail about tongues. He is actually warning the Corinthians to NOT use the gift of tongues in a manner that would hinder the unbeliever.
Thank you for your question my friend. Something just doesn’t sound right. This laying hands on your forehead and then speaking to you in tongues doesn’t sound biblical. Is it the Holy Spirit? I do not think it is because the Holy Spirit always points to glorify Jesus Christ and focus exclusively on Him and never man or his gifts. You are not questioning the Holy Spirit, so you are fine…what you are doing is seeking to find the truth and it obviously doesn’t feel right and I don’t think it is. I would talk to a pastor of another denomination. If you speak to the pastor of this church you had this experience in, then he will likely support this. Biblical Verses Image
A few months ago I was questioning my love for God during a time of prayer Then the Holy Spirit told me that I do love God. He told me that the love of God shed abroad in my in is a love from God and a love for God. He told me to keep that love alive and active what I had to do was declare that love every day all during the day. Then He told me to go to Proverbs 18:19-20 showing that I can awaken that love by speaking life to it. He went on to tell me even if I don’t feel like I love God, just to declare it anyway and my love for Him will remain alive in me. I have read Romans chapter 5 countless times in my 30 years as a Christian, but I could not have the understanding of this verse outside of the teaching of the Holy Spirit
Jesus knew the heart and since He is God, He knows the thoughts and motives of every human heart for He is also the Creator. God looked at the religious leaders and knew that they were hypocrites because they taught one thing but did another as Jesus said “on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness” (Matt 23:28). They liked to be seen and wanted others to think highly of them but Jesus knew that inwardly they were as dead as could be and were full of all sorts of evil and uncleanliness. It is never what others think about us that’s important; it is only what God knows about us that counts. We might be able to fool others but we can never fool God because “Lord, you know everyone’s heart” (Acts 1:24) “for the LORD is a God who knows, and by him deeds are weighed” (1 Sam 2:3). I have overcome bronchitis and pneumonia in the distant past and thought those days were over. This feels like a different thing …maybe allergies….which up to now did not bother my lungs . Being in this kind of environment with long periods of rain maybe is not the best but I have always gone through without this sort of effect that has lasted so long.

Thank you! I took both tests and found that Faith was very strong on both. I also had a strong aptitude for Mercy on both. Is it possible through study, prayer and training to strengthen a particular gift? Or does the Spirit fill your cup up only so much? There is an area in which I feel I have been receiving a calling and yet I didn’t score high in that category. I want to follow God’s Will and do what He wants me to do. I am earnestly seeking. For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness. The gift of “distinguishing between spirits” is having the gift of discernment. It is able to discern scriptures and their application to believers in the church. It is also being able to tell whether someone is earnest and sincere, or they appear to have an agenda. Peter displayed this in Acts chapter five when Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, sold a piece of property and kept back part of the money and brought the rest and put it at the apostles’ feet but lied saying they had given it all to the church (Acts 5:1-10). Those with this gift of discernment or “distinguishing between spirits” may be able to know whether the church should or should not do particular things. Bible Scripture Images
I don’t mean to be rude but I believe in the gift of healing. For one, I have experienced it so many times in my church. If someone has a headache, backache, or even a bad back we praid over the people that had these pains and if it didn’t work the first time it worked the second. Also we have a 14 year old boy named Sam that goes to my church and he is currently in a wheel chair due to his muscle tissue deteriorating in his legs. During church camp another church came to us and asked if they could pray over him with us and so at 10:00 at night. So of course we said yes because we believe he will not be in this wheelchair for lon. So we prayed over Sam for over two hours and what we saw in that amount of time was amazing. We could literally see his muscle tissue growing back and the blood was flowing through his legs again. He felt great and we did also. He’s not out of the chair yet but people in our church and other churches have had visions of him being out of that chair and we strongly believe that. What I’m trying to say is, obvisiouly you can’t heal anyone if you don’t believe they can be healed. As long as you have the Holy Spirit in you and the faith and belief it can be done. Thank you Jerry…yes, it is time to move on as we can agree to disagree and not be disagreeable as you have not been and you are not or have been disagreeable and I thank you for that. Since not all, even in the early church, Paul wrote that not all speak with tongues, then clearly Augustine was wrong and certainly I must believe what is in the Bible over these early church fathers. As for having a forum or website that allows discussions for Christians to grow, there are several but some problems occur where readers differ and sometimes argue over non-essentials (to salvation) issues that are needless to debate. What I sense you want is to grow and many churches have Sunday school programs (such as the church I am under-shepherd of) that allow the class to have input (which we do). Others have Sunday night services that are dedicated to a more intensive Bible Study and still others have Weds. night studies of the same magnitude. There are many Christian forums but you will find that frequently they are taking about issues that do not have to do with doctrine but about personal beliefs in grey areas that sometimes lead into wrangling which the Bible commands Christians not to do. Please note that our website allows comments on all of the articles and you can ask or comment with other readers and even the authors of these articles and to me, it is one of the greatest tools for growth. The vast majority of our readers and commentators who reply with comments have so much to add that I grow too in the process. I hope this helps. We have over 300 articles about various topics. You can type in a key word or question at the top of the webpage Homepage where it says “Questions? Need Answers? Ask Us.” and type into the search box. Happy hunting and growing in grace and knowledge Cynthia. Biblical Verses Image
I kept up the charade until one day we arrived at someone’s home for a prayer meeting. A place I’d never been. As we walked into the front door, we were met with loud praying by the large group that was in the front room — they were all chanting and uttering what seemed to be other languages or random syllables. The Holy Spirit in me resisted and wanted me out of there. It was as though a huge red flag was being waved and I asked my friend if we could leave. We walked right back out the door. Again my Brother, I am not trying to act like l know the Bible better than you. I have often missed God in many ways. Even in what the Spirit told me concerning how to treat my wife, I have at times fallen short of His word. This is just another example of why it is important to be taught and led by the Spirit of God and how we can experience the heart of God.
Jesus said blessed those who mourn for someday they will be comforted and God has said that He will wipe away every tear someday my friend. Ironically, God allows us to get knocked down and when we do get knocked down, it is quite convenient at times because then we are already in a position pray from our knees! You are loved Anthony. You know that I pray.

I am thankful for the men who have seen this …I spoke with a man yesterday at church …one we found that teaches bible without the new age stuff…He told me that he left his wife and the new wife had gotten cancer and felt guilty because she felt this was because of her sin . He also did not OWN the sin of adultery as he felt his ex wife …his covenant wife was to be pittied because she could not “get over it’ . Bible Verse Wall Art
