The second church I attend everyone is very friendly. Usually for 30 minutes the Church has songs and its beautiful songs. After the first 30 minutes the Pastor will talk. Then at the end music will be in the background and I have noticed the pastor really glamorizes about speaking in tongues and about the holy ghost. At first I use to feel like I was not Christian enough because I have never spoken in tongues. Scripture Images
I admitted to my friend that I had faked it all those years ago. I stood on the message that God had given me that I did not have to speak in tongues to know that the Spirit is alive and working in me. I already know it. And as far as other spiritual gifts? Yes, I have them. Several. But, tongues is not one of them. God has blessed me, protected me (often from myself) and humbled me over the years. I have experienced the presence of the Spirit for over 40 years.
Modern Rock closely resembles Christian Rock. You'll notice that with some of the bands that perform this type of music, the lyrics may not speak directly about God or even Biblical ideas at all. Instead, the lyrics may contain implicit Biblical messages or may imply broader Christian teachings to other subjects. This makes Modern Rock music very popular with Christians and non-Christians alike. The songs can be heard widely on non-Christian radio stations across the country.  Scripture Images
The Gifts of the Holy Spirit are unique skills and abilities given by the Holy Spirit to faithful followers of Christ to serve God for the common benefit of his people, the church. A listing of spiritual gifts in 1 Corinthians 12:8-10 mentions wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, speaking in tongues, and interpretation of tongues. Comparable gifts are discussed in Ephesians 4:7-13, Isaiah 11:2-3 and Romans 12:3-8. The gifts of the Spirit are simply God empowering faithful Christians to do what He has called us to do. 2 Peter 1:3 says, "His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness." The gifts of the Holy Spirit are part of "everything we need" to accomplish His plans for our lives.
The Holy Spirit is still at work and can still do the things he’d done. In the past, dead people were raised to life so also have I seen it in our time and generation amongst other signs and display of the Holy ghost. It wouldn’t be okay to rule out the possibility of the Holy spirit healing people through their shadows. Is it not interesting that Jesus on earth didn’t do that? And that is because He said ‘…..greater works shall you do because……’ If you agree that the Holy Spirit is still around on earth, then I would be careful about the challenges I throw around. It would sound like I doubted what the Spirit could do.

I wanted to be sure I did not REACT but to act upon the wise counsel of GOD …BUT the various ‘ministries’ and other kinds of resources were not trustworthy . The word had much to offer but in my state of sorrow and grief and the incomprehensible reality of my husband’s long term life lived in deceit I did not feel equipped to know what was it that was ‘normal’ for a believer in such a situtation.
Greetings Cynthia thank you for your reply let me start by saying tho I do speak in tongues some times it is not a massage with interpatation I find that when I am prazeing god or praying some times the holy spirit moves on me and I may utter words not in English but they allways help me to give god the glory and then I will keep prazeing and praying in English yes if we pray in tongues or English or any learned language god hears his children because he hears our heart you do not have to speak in tongues to be saved and go to heaven I find that they do edify me as I feel gods spirit moving in me and upon me reasureing me . I will pray in the spirit ( tongues ) and I will pray with my understanding ( English ) I have never tried to fake tongues in any way . when I was kneeling in a alter praying one night never had spoke in tongues before the Holy spirit moved upon me and I started speaking in tongues . I don,t speak in tongues all the time I pray in English most of the time . The Holy spirit is a gift from the father and Jesus to every born again child of god . The gifts of the spirit are gifts from him to the church . Peter said you shall receive the gift of the Holy spirit if you repent and are babtized . the spirit gives the gifts to each person as he wills .but sometimes I don,t understand why people beleave that the Holy Spirit still gives the other gifts to people but they have a hard time beleaving that he give tongues to people today . lets keep preaching Jesus and him crusafied and try to get all the lost souls into the fold we can time is running out . These days it is difficult to hear how many believers have married those who they thought were of equal devotion to the Lord but due to wrong teaching, lack of knowledge of the Word and time applying it, often because we now have GENERATIONS not trained up in the things of GOD by parents who GOD ordained to do so ..and even if they were kids in church the churches have long since fallen away from godly right teaching in many instances….SO we have a lack of knowing what to look for and how to determine the true devotion of anyone who claims the Lord …until there has been sufficient time in study and right doctrinal instruction for a person newly entering into Christ. This is not an exhaustive list of the gifts of the spirit, for example some are said to have the gift of mercy which is a person who is quick to forgive and not judge others who have sinned while others are not so quick to do so. God gives these gifts as He sees best and not what we think they are for (v 11). We can not receive gifts we are not intended to receive but we can desire certain gifts, indicating that we can receive gifts of the Spirit that may fulfill the desires of our hearts while still fulfilling God‘s purpose for them (v 31). Let’s examine what these gifts are and what is their intended use is for in the church today.
Hope everything else is well. I spent last night in the ER. After a month of wheezing nightly and no voice, I finally got voice back yesturday, still wheezy but not as bad. I was so excited. Then about 3/4 thru my shift we lost all our staffing and I spent 1 1/2 hrs running my tail off…I was running 3 self check, a reg. register, had a constant code 3, and customers screaming at me to move faster while demanding managers who were not available. When it ended my voice was gone, I was gasping for air, coughing, and wheezing very loud. I then hear a man asking me how long I have been like this. I tell him I have just been diagnosed with what they believe to be adult onset asthma and have been having issues with breathing nightly and no voice for a month. He informs me he has asthma and he can hear me standing acrossed the room. That my eyes are buldging, skin color bad, and showing the sign of not getting enough air. Ask about my inhaler which I took two hrs before and had not helped at all. Says the voice is due to airway obstruction and by the way he is an er nurse one step from his PA license. He tells me to get to er and tell them I am acute and past stage inhaler will work. I need nebulizer treatment and not to take no for an answer. I tell him I can’t afford it and he responds…can you afford a 25,000 bill if you survive when you black out and if you don’t kill yourself or somebody else cause you do it while driving? Then tells me that it is not understood that putting in an airway on asthmatics who have closed up is not easy and not always possible. So I finally gave in when he threatend to return in a few days and pitch a scene if I tell him I have not been to er. Been asking God why I am not better so how do I argue when apparently God sent free medical advice to me at work while I was having a bad attack. Bible Verse Wall Art

Im the type of person when I wrong I will admit it .When I started checking out my sorce I found it not exactly like he said . I did find some of the things he said but I still have not found what he said Augustine said but if he did say that in 400 ad it doesn,t answer the question why was the gifts seem to be so silent for hundreds of years until the late 1800 or early 1900 and then make an appearing again . I am asking the holy spirit to give me the answers to the questions I have in my mind and heart and I beleave the bible has an answer to every question we just have to dig for it . yes brother jack we have to take the bible over what any man says its the absolute truth given to us from god and the final authority for every thing . May the lord Jesus Bless you . Biblical Verses Image
Another example one time last month I was reading Hebrews chapter 10. In verse 10 it tells us that we have been sacntified once and for all by the offering up of the body of Jesus. This sounds wonderful But verse 14 says that we have been perfected forever. I started to question that because I can see so many imperfections in my life. Then the Holy Spirit told me that my sanctification has perfected me and everything in my life for God ‘s calling upon my life.
He really began to assert his independence covered by ‘transparent’ LYING after our first child was born and his mom died. He had a brief emotional adulterous relationship with a woman at work that I discovered and I took action to go to her and relate to her that God’s best man for any woman would not be another woman’s wife. I ministered and prayed with her …she then called me to apologize and quit her job and left town …I was not until just lately I found out that she was a married woman ! SO my husband has never been transparent and still is not being so . He simply does not have the ‘skills’ to call upon himself to be truthful .
The gift of “distinguishing between spirits” is having the gift of discernment. It is able to discern scriptures and their application to believers in the church. It is also being able to tell whether someone is earnest and sincere, or they appear to have an agenda. Peter displayed this in Acts chapter five when Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, sold a piece of property and kept back part of the money and brought the rest and put it at the apostles’ feet but lied saying they had given it all to the church (Acts 5:1-10). Those with this gift of discernment or “distinguishing between spirits” may be able to know whether the church should or should not do particular things.

While many white musicians gravitated toward country, folk, and old-timey music to express their spirituality outside of traditional Christian hymns, Black Gospel music drew heavily upon the traditional spirituals that had been passed down from the days of slavery, picking up its more driving rhythmic emphasis from blues and early jazz. Composer and singer Thomas A. Dorsey crystallized the style in 1932 with his epochal "Take My Hand, Precious Lord," and went on to compose a great many songs that later became standards. When performed in the churches, the music was traditionally sung by a choir, with individual soloists sometimes taking the spotlight; this often happened in a form known as "call and response," in which either the choir or the soloist would repeat and/or answer the lyric which had just been sung by the other, with the soloist improvising embellishments of the melody for greater emphasis. As the music developed, these soloists became more and more virtuosic, performing with wild emotion (and, in the South, physicality) in order to properly express the spiritual ecstasy the music was meant to evoke. The music was quite egalitarian in terms of gender, as both male and female performers -- Brother Joe May, Rev. James Cleveland, Mahalia Jackson, the Clara Ward Singers, etc. -- gained wide renown among both black and white audiences. The small-group format was also prevalent, with major figures including the Five Blind Boys of Mississippi, the Soul Stirrers, the Swan Silvertones, and the Dixie Hummingbirds; in general, these groups placed a greater premium on smooth vocal harmonies, although some performances could approach the raucous energy (if not quite the huge sound) of a choir-with-soloist group. As the years progressed, black gospel and black popular music influenced and borrowed from one another, reflecting the gradual change of emphasis toward R&B; black gospel also had an enormous impact on the development of soul music, which directed gospel's spiritual intensity into more secular concerns, and included a great many performers whose musical skills were developed in the church. As a recognizable style unto itself, black gospel music largely ceased to develop around the 1970s; progressing racial attitudes had helped black popular music reach wider audiences (and become more lucrative) than ever before, and tastes had turned towards the earthy hedonism of funk and the highly arranged, sophisticated Philly soul sound. The former wasn't quite appropriate for worship, and it wasn't all that practical to duplicate the latter in church services. However, the traditional black gospel sound survived intact and was eventually augmented by contemporary gospel (an '80s/'90s variation strongly influenced by latter-day urban R&B); plus, singers like Whitney Houston continued to develop within its ranks.
