And all the skillful men who were performing all the work of the sanctuary came, each from the work which he was performing, and they said to Moses, "The people are bringing much more than enough for the construction work which the LORD commanded us to perform." So Moses issued a command, and a proclamation was circulated throughout the camp, saying, "Let no man or woman any longer perform work for the contributions of the sanctuary." Thus the people were restrained from bringing any more. For the material they had was sufficient and more than enough for all the work, to perform it. Biblical Verses Image

Dreams are just random and so you don’t want to put too much importance into what you dream. Frequently, if you pray and read your Bible before bedtime, there is a tendency to have better dreams and more peaceful sleep. Instead of focusing on your gifts, focus on the fruits for Jesus said that they will know you by your fruits and not by your gifts. The fruits of the Spirit are often overlooked and these found in Eph 5 among other places. Thank you Tam for your comment. Bible Verse Wall Art
The next gift Paul mentions is the gift of interpretation of tongues (v 10). This gift is someone who is able to interpret another tongue or language. I am bilingual and can speak English and Spanish but I would not say that I have this gift necessarily. Some have a natural gift or ability to learn a foreign language. It was not natural nor did it come easy for me. For those who this is easy, then they may be imbued with such a gift. If anyone was speaking in tongues in the church, there absolutely had to be someone there to interpret or they were to be silent. And no more than one person was to speak in tongues because there is only one interpreter available to translate at a time. If several were speaking in tongues at the same time, there would be confusion and God is not the author of confusion, but He is the God of order (1 Cor 14:33). It would not be edifying the church to have several speaking in tongues at the same time and with no one to interpret. Tongues are a sign for unbelievers and not for the church. Paul writes, “In the Law it is written: ‘With other tongues and through the lips of foreigners I will speak to this people, but even then they will not listen to me, says the Lord.’ Tongues, then, are a sign, not for believers but for unbelievers” (1 Cor. 14: 21-22). Isaiah 28:11-12 is where Paul quotes Isaiah the prophet, “For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. To whom he said, ‘This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.’” This clearly indicates that the gift of tongues (Greek for languages) and the interpretation of them is that of a known language as a witness to unbelievers.
Greetings Cynthia thank you for your reply let me start by saying tho I do speak in tongues some times it is not a massage with interpatation I find that when I am prazeing god or praying some times the holy spirit moves on me and I may utter words not in English but they allways help me to give god the glory and then I will keep prazeing and praying in English yes if we pray in tongues or English or any learned language god hears his children because he hears our heart you do not have to speak in tongues to be saved and go to heaven I find that they do edify me as I feel gods spirit moving in me and upon me reasureing me . I will pray in the spirit ( tongues ) and I will pray with my understanding ( English ) I have never tried to fake tongues in any way . when I was kneeling in a alter praying one night never had spoke in tongues before the Holy spirit moved upon me and I started speaking in tongues . I don,t speak in tongues all the time I pray in English most of the time . The Holy spirit is a gift from the father and Jesus to every born again child of god . The gifts of the spirit are gifts from him to the church . Peter said you shall receive the gift of the Holy spirit if you repent and are babtized . the spirit gives the gifts to each person as he wills .but sometimes I don,t understand why people beleave that the Holy Spirit still gives the other gifts to people but they have a hard time beleaving that he give tongues to people today . lets keep preaching Jesus and him crusafied and try to get all the lost souls into the fold we can time is running out .
From the standpoint of the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but from the standpoint of God's choice they are beloved for the sake of the fathers; for the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. For just as you once were disobedient to God, but now have been shown mercy because of their disobedience, so these also now have been disobedient, that because of the mercy shown to you they also may now be shown mercy. For God has shut up all in disobedience so that He may show mercy to all.
Thanks Jerry. I love the grace and humility you have my friend. You wanting to share the gospel is wonderful because only 1 in 20 believers have ever led more than one person to faith in Christ. That is not good but I see you have a passion for the Great Commission. Your own personal testimony is a great way to do so. No one, as you say, can dispute this because it is objective testimony to the work of God in your life.
Mr 16:17 “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; I do not believe He was speaking of the apostles only. I have meant some Brothers in Christ who did not want to have anything to do with “speaking with new tongues”. But they told when they were in an intense time of prayer they started to pray in tongues. But the greatest and most valuable thing is that all things be done in the love of God as described in 1Cor. 13. I myself pray with tongues and have seen God use it in miraculous ways, but it is the least of all the gifts. I have had experience casting demons out of people. My younger, who I am 11 years older, received Christ after asking me “Roger, how do you know the Bible is true?”, when she was 15 years old. I told her that I know that it is true because I have experienced the truth of it in tangible ways. Then a week later she became very sick and could not get out of bed. Then one day that week while I was sitting in the living, the Holy Spirit spoke to me and told me “go show your sister the truth of the Bible. Then He gave me the verses from Mark 16 to share with her. I went to her bedroom and reminded her of what she had asked me the previous week. Then I read the verses from Mark 16 to her and asked her if she wanted to experience the truth of this verse. Then she said “yes, I guess so”. I prayed for her and she leaped out of bed screaming “I’m healed!” She later became a Christian when the Holy Spirit had revealed to me the exact identity of a young man she was involved with and she was show that she can’t hide anything from God.
Well stated Cynthia. Truly, the gifts are important but I don’t think the gifts, as some say, are evidence of the Holy Spirit’s indwelling. Some say it is THE evidence by the real fruit is evidence to me and that is the fruit of the Holy Spirit revealed in Galatians 5 and Jesus said you shall know them by their fruits, not by their gifts and by their love for one another and Jesus said in John that “by this (love) all men will know)” and He never indicated the evidence was by gifts but by the fruits of the Spirit. John 15 I believe it is that we can do nothing of ourselves but if we abide in His Word and He abides in us, then we will produce fruit revealing that we are His and He is ours. Thanks for such a deep and revealing comment.
I have struggled with this question, literally, for years — at least 30, I would say. It began with an experience that occurred when I was friends with a young man who was Charismatic and was, he, himself, very charismatic! He introduced me to the concept of speaking in tongues. He did it himself and encouraged me to do so as well. As I look back on it, I felt like he PRESSURED me to speak in tongues, making me feel like I was missing something if I didn’t. It made me feel inadequate as a Christian and I so wanted to be fulfilled by everything the Spirit had to offer, yet, somehow, I could just not muster a syllable. Then one evening, we had a small prayer group of mostly his friends that I had become acquainted with and they laid hands on me. I opened my mouth and out spilled this gobbledy-gook of words that I knew in my heart I was just making up so that I could prove to them that I had the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. I felt shame, not joy. I continued to fake it, questioning the depth of my faith and why the Spirit was not giving me this gift. Biblical Verses Image
Hi Jerry, Thank you for your great response. I have no doubt that the Spirit moves you in your prayer to speak in tongues. Paul said he spoke in tongues more than all of them. I just don’t happen to have that gift. I also don’t think that I have a gift of miracles either. I have some other gifts that are very strong, however, and I am prayerfully seeking His will. That is not to say that at some point God might bestow a gift of tongues upon me if it was His will and was for His glory. I read Pastor Jack’s response as well and will restate that not all people have all gifts. Paul was very clear about that point. A day may come when God needs me to speak to someone whose language I don’t know, I have no doubt that He would use me as He needed me and I would speak in tongues, as I am His willing vessel.
When Samuel was seeking who would be the king of Israel, He had all of Jesse’s sons pass before him and time after time, Samuel thought that surely one of these young men would be the next king. Some were tall and muscular but that was not God’s standard. Jesse didn’t call David who was what we might call the “runt of the litter” but God said that He looks not on the outward appearance but what is inside. He doesn’t have regard for what a person’s looks are like but He looks at the heart because the most important attributes of a person are never what we see but the things we don’t see and what we cannot see, God can. That’s all that really matters. Bible Scripture Images
Well said Roger. I do agree that seminary alone is not enough and too many have attended liberal seminaries. I attended Moody for a master’s and it is the most solid, theologically sound that I know of anywhere. Yes, many who came from seminary’s have strange teachings but so do those with no seminary degrees. I still believe seminary is crucial because there are lessons on interpreting scripture, hermeneutics, exegesis, and so on that help us put into the cultural context and look at the genre and to see whether Scriptures apply to us today. For example, all Scripture is written to us but not all Scripture is written for us. That is, many verses are prescriptive and some are descriptive.
Thank you my friend. this is not normal and you won’t find such a thing in the Bible and there is no gift of what your friend describes. Let me ask, has your friend ever repented and trusted in Christ? Are they in a Bible-believing church? Have they talked with their pastor, or do they even have one? What is their prayer life like? Does your friend spend much time in the Bible? If they are not saved, they may be under demonic influence. There is no gift like what you mentioned anywhere in the Bible, so I fear it could be an evil spirit inhabiting her.
I became incredibly depressed (depression runs in my family so I can go through it from the time to time but this was something different) and even trying to get back into reading my Bible would make me feel physically sick. My boyfriend was trying to help me get back into the church life and I eventually had to call out to God to forgive me of my past and to help me get back to His path for me. Biblical Verses Image
The first gift Paul mentions is the gift of wisdom (v 8). It is listed first perhaps because it is foundational to the church and this is a gift that the believer can earnestly desire (v 31). Wisdom is clearly taught in the Word of God and “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding” (Psalm 111:10). This is the precious gift that Solomon asked for and received from God to be able to rightly rule God‘s nation (I Kings 3:12). With this wisdom, Solomon could understand what do in difficult decisions. Wisdom is also associated with fearing the Lord. Fear is simply standing in awe of God in reverence and respect. It entails loving His Word and being obedient to what it says. There is no wisdom in disobedience. This means that if some members are revering God’s laws and statutes, including loving God and loving your neighbor, that many members in the church can have this gift. Of course, many can not have it either. This gift is of supreme importance for members in the Body of Christ for if we can love God and our neighbor, we can greatly contribute to the church and those outside of the church. This love is another way of showing unbelievers and attracting them to Christ by it (John 13:35).
Then Asa took all the silver and the gold which were left in the treasuries of the house of the LORD and the treasuries of the king's house, and delivered them into the hand of his servants And King Asa sent them to Ben-hadad the son of Tabrimmon, the son of Hezion, king of Aram, who lived in Damascus, saying, "Let there be a treaty between you and me, as between my father and your father. Behold, I have sent you a present of silver and gold; go, break your treaty with Baasha king of Israel so that he will withdraw from me." Biblical Verses Image
When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men from every nation under heaven. ...
What happened next truly changed my life. As I was working up the courage to do what I knew I had to do, I felt in my presence beside me, the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit said to me; “If you do this I WILL take you home to be with me. But, before you do, think about the impact on your two sons. Who will finish raising them? My ex-wife is an unbeliever, and I KNEW that they would grow up without the knowledge of our Jesus and our Father. Through many tears, I gently laid the pistol back in it’s drawer, laid down in bed, and proceeded to speak to Abba in a spiritual language I had never heard before, for the space of about two hours. Never had done this before. I speak in tongues quite a bit since. I received the gift of speaking in tongues, and interpreting spoken tongues that night. I didn’t seek the gift, but if Abba wanted me to have it, I will certainly not reject it.
One new one he shared was Acts 10:45, 46 in which Cornelius (a gentile) and his household received the Holy Spirit and burst out speaking in tongues. But why? This was a sign to Peter that the Holy Spirit was also for gentiles. He got the message. Now, we don’t need to continue getting that message, we get it, too. Jesus is for ALL. Every time someone is saved we are taught in God’s Word to recognize the fruits of the Spirit and we don’t need these miraculous signs to know that God is at work. And in my humble opinion, it is not a sound teaching of God’s to try and force people to speak in tongues to PROVE that they have received the Holy Spirit and make them feel less of a Christian if they don’t.
